Dr. Nan Monahan has been a member of the Piedmont medical community since 1997, and has been in her current location since 2001. She received her Bachelorís of Science in Biology from The University of the South in 1990. She received her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1994. Dr. Monahan completed residency training in Internal Medicine at Emory University in 1997. While at Emory, she received the Award for Outstanding Resident of 1996. She maintains board certification in Internal Medicine. She is an active member of the Piedmont Hospital medical staff, and currently serves as the Chief of Medicine, and represents the Department of Medicine on the Piedmont Hospital Credentialing Committee.
She is a member of the American College of Physicians, the Atlanta Womenís Medical Alliance, and the International Society for Clinical Densitometry.
Dr. Monahan possesses a special interest in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis, and is in the process of becoming certified by the ISCD (International Society for Clinical Densitometry) for completing formal training in bone densitometry interpretation.
Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Monahan has been an Atlanta resident since 1994. She enjoys photography, Bikram Yoga, knitting, and horseback riding.
